Dr. Madalina Stefan: Nature Narratives and the Urgency of Reflection
I was born in Romania, grew up in Germany and have been living in Spain for the last ten years.
I’m a Film, Literature and Cultural Studies scholar and my current research topic is postcolonial resistance and ecofeminism in Latin American telluric novel. In regard to the relevance of this topic it has to be pointed out that who we are and the world we inhabit is determined by our narrations. Thus, in the context of climate change there is an urgency to reflect on how nature and gender are narrated in our medicalized, patriarchal societies.
Fun fact: When I tell people that I love wheel-throwing (which is a technique to create ceramics) it has happened that I have been asked about the size of the wheel I throw and the distance I score. 😛
