Dr. Giulia Marotta: Finding the Female Historians in Catholic Church History

Introducing Wire Fellow Dr. Giulia Marotta, whose home country of Italy is linked to seaside landscapes, the Sistine Chapel, and Vespa mopeds! Before joining the Centre for Religion and Modernity at the University of Münster, Giulia conducted research in the US and enjoyed hot dogs and Thanksgiving turkey.

Giulia is an Italian church historian whose research focuses on the role of women historians in the Catholic Church historiography. She located her research at the intersection of modernity, religion, and narratives. At the University of Münster, she is analyzing the work of Maude Petre, an English Roman Catholic nun who became a leading figure of the modernist movement and one of its first female historians.
