Dr Mehwish Nasim: Harnessing AI and Social Psychology to Curb Misinformation Online
| Hi, my name is Dr Mehwish Nasim and I am a Senior Lecturer at the University of Western Australia where I teach Artificial Intelligence. I hold a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Konstanz, Germany. I work at the intersection of Computer Science and Social Psychology. Informed by sociological theories on human interaction, I develop mathematical models of social influence to combat the dissemination of misinformation across social media platforms. I am also a TEDx speaker. And I am dedicated to increasing the percentage of underrepresented individuals in the STEM workforce, particularly women with caring responsibilities. At the University of Münster, I am working at the Department of Information Systems together with Prof Dr – Ing Christian Grimme. |
