Dr. Tiia Kekäläinen: Investigating Smartphone Applications for Promoting Active Ageing
Hello! I am a postdoctoral researcher from the University of Jyväskylä in Finland. Engaging in mobility periods abroad in the US and Switzerland has enriched my research ideas and methodologies, as well as provided me the opportunity to meet colleagues from around the world. I hope to gain a similar experience during my time in Münster for the coming months!
I completed my PhD in gerontology and public health in 2019. The main aim of my research is to promote active aging and functional capacity in old age. During my WiRe fellowship with Prof. Dr. Michael Brach at the Institute for Sport Sciences at the University of Münster, I will focus especially on physical activity and the utilization of novel technologies such as smartphone apps to assess and promote physical activity in old age.
A fun fact about me: Definitely the hardest part of coming to Münster is being away from my two lovely cats.
